September Make It Take It Oil Painting Workshop at Dundee Senior Center
Hi The Painting LAdy 1 here!!! We just completed our September Make It Take It Oil Painting Workshop here at The Dundee Senior Center, now I normally have anywhere from 4 - 10 students for this workshop. But this month most of my regular students have been out and about traveling with family and friends! Which believe me is a really good thing to be doing ,what with the beautiful weather we have had, but today,Monday, this was a good day to be indoors and paint! I still had my workshop, but I had one student! Which acutally was pretty wonderful! We had such a good time painting together! The day went by so fast for both of us! I had a wonderful little painting of an old fashion brick one room school house, that I found on the internet. The school house theme goes along with our kids going back to school, getting into that school routine, after school sports, music, art lessons, parents you know what I am talking about here! Well anyway my student and I had a wonderful one on one painting session thru out the day, I was able to give her my undivided attention thru out her painting. Which is something that all art teachers should do from time to time! My student told me later that she felt she really learned quite a bit today by having her art teacher all to herself! Which made me feel like I made a difference with her and her artwork! So art teachers out there, if you have to opportuntiy to have a smaller class or even to have one student for a session, by all means grab that opportunity! You never know what a difference you may make in someones' life by just being there to encourage them along! I have to get ready for another workshop for this month so take care and Happy Painting!! Yours The Painting Lady 1

Make It TAke It Oil Painting Workshop from August 28th.
Hi everyone!!!
Our monthly Make It Take It Oil Painting Workshop at The Painting Lady1 Art Studio went really, really ,
WELL! I was fortunate to be able to reproduce a painting From Tony and Friends Art Studio in St. Charles, Ill. Tony graciously let me use his painting for our workshop! I will definitely be using this painting in January for our monthly Make It Take It Workshop at The Dundee Senior Center! It is a painting of a wine bottle, glass and grapes, which in January will go along with our New Years' Eve theme! My students had fun with painitng, espically when it came time to do the wine label on the bottle! Each students had a different approach to the label! That is a good thing to let your students do!! Always be flexible and open to ideas they may have for THEIR paintings! In this case, rather than putting in little flowers along the edge of the label, one did a beautiful vine, the other did a vine with leaves and little red dots. My third student got really creative and did all of the plus lettering on the lable to make it her own! ALways remember to let your students have a say in how they do their paintings, you want to encourage them to think on their feet! Because as a teacher you are not always going to be there to help them! When they are working on their own you want them to go ahead and try new ways,to no be afraid to try!

August Paintings -Making it Yours!
Hi The Painting LAdy 1 here, have been so BUSY these last few days of August! We had our monthly Make It Take It Oil Painting Workshop at The Painting Lady 1 Art Studio last Saturday, August 28th, I usually have a theme to our paintings for each month. But one of my regular students saw a flyer from Tony and Friends Art Studio with one of his paintings from his 1st half of the year art projects. She was wondering if we would be able to do it in the following months or better yet for our January 2011 Make It Take It Oil Painting Workshop? Well I e-mailed Tony and asked permission to use the painting for one of our painting projects and he was so gracious, of course we could. Well I got the supply list and the pattern and went to work, We are definitely going to use the painting for our January Make It Take It Oil Painting Workshop in 2011at The Dundee Senior Center! But in the mean time I did the painting ,showed it to my students, who fell in love with it so we did for our August project here at The Painting Lady 1 Art Studio! This is a wonderful painting of a Wine Bottle with Wine Glass and Grapes, it turned out Great! My students personalized the label on the bottle to make it their own! It always amazes me how each artist personalizes their artwork! Each of our paintings was totally different from the orginal that I put together! But never the less each painting was definitely the work of that artist! The day went by so fast, before we knew it it was 4PM and we were putting finishing touches on the painting, getting ready to clean up and go home! I had a set of twins this workshop, they were so sweet, each did something totally different on their paintings, when their parents came to pick them up after their brothers' football game, they were totally blown away by what they did in one day! They told me that they had been trying to work out school, sports and music lessons to get to this painting workshop! That makes all the work for me totally worthwhile! I also had a Make It Take It Oil Painting Workshop at The Dundee Senior Center on Monday August 23rd, we did a totally different painting for that workshop, again like I said earlier, I try to have some type of theme for each months' painting. This painting had an end of summer theme to it, it shows a little boy and girl sitting on rocks by their pond, just having a peaceful summer day! Again each of my students paintings turned out so different! Each student put their own personal touches to their paintings! This painting had a green background of trees, bushes, etc. my one student limited the green trees and put in blue sky, which turned out pretty darn good! My otheres like I said put their own personal touches! We had a really good Monday filled with painting and chit chating all day long! again the day went by way to fast! I think that I am a pretty flexible teacher for my students, when they want to make a change on their painting I tell them to go right ahead! It is the only they are going to learn! They are going to be painting at home alone sometime and I do not want my art students to ever be afraid to try something on their own! Well again I have to get going on the next Painting Project for September! So I will talk to everyone soon! Have fun and get out there and PAINT!!!!
